Code of Practice for Ethical Vetting of Research Projects Involving Artefacts
As of September 2021, the University Research Committee (URC) adopted a new policy requiring all research projects involving artefacts to be subject to review and approval by the Human Research Ethics Committee before the research is conducted. Artefact is defined as any “object which, on religious or secular grounds, are of importance for archaeology, prehistory, history, literature, art or science”. For more information, reference should be made to the University’s Code of Practice for Ethical Vetting of Research Projects Involving Artefacts. The URC has prepared a form to use when applying for ethical approval.
